Your Scene : Partnerships for Children Gala
Named for the Partnerships for Children founder and first president, the Erika Herndon Scholarship is awarded to a student from foster care that plans to attend a four-year college. The cash prize of $2,500, along with other items to help the student begin college, is provided by the Partnerships Board, the Safe Kids Fund, and private donations.
This year’s recipient, Vianca, is attending Austin Community College with a goal of transferring into Texas State University at San Marcos to pursue a degree in criminal justice. She aspires to become a lawyer. Vianca is a true inspiration to all foster youth, displaying hope, resiliency and encouragement to all of those youth who think they cannot accomplish their goals and dreams.
