Your Scene : Cattle Baron's Ball: Lil' Buckaroos Party

The Cattle Baron’s Ball celebrated its Lil’ Buckaroos Party at Laguna Gloria to honor their youngest cancer patients with an event especially for them and their guests. Generously underwritten by The Austin Museum of Art and Cavender’s Boot City, the party was catered to children with fun music, food and activities. The children teamed up with local artists to paint and decorate “Horseshoes of Hope,” which were made in recognition of loved ones who have suffered or triumphed in the war against cancer. The horseshoes will be used to deck the actual Ball scheduled for May 31, 2008.

This year’s Cattle Baron’s Ball, titled “Brandin’ a Cause; Ropin’ a Cure,” enables the local office of the American Cancer Society to provide patient services, research, education, and government advocacy to those afflicted with cancer and their loved ones. To date, the past events have raised nearly $1.6 million providing funds for local services and programs vital to the fight against cancer such as Hope Lodge, Reach to Recovery and Look Good…Feel Better.
